Statics

This course aims to increase the knowledge of systems having equilibrium and their requirments. This includes both concentrated and distributed, single or compound structures. Some of the main topics included are: Force systems in 2D and 3D spaces, the concept of moment in 2D and 3D, equilibrium, the concept of connections and supports, structures including trusses, frames and machines, distributed forces, Center of gravity and area, moments and products of inertia, beams, cables.  

Prerequisites: 

Calculus

Grading Policy: 

Midterm (40%), Final exam (50%), Homeworks (10%)

Time: 

Variable based on department schedules.
